Leica M6 + Voigtlander Nokton 35mm f/1.4 SC
Kodak Gold
ASA 200
24 frames
Processed in C41 @ minilab
Scan: Nikon Coolscan 4000 (ish)
This is the first film exposed with my Leica M6. It was out of date for 6-8 years now, so the results are accordingly. 15 out of 24 because I had some scanning problems and also some of the frames were way underexposed.
.
Today I tried to print some of the photos from above. I converted them to grayscale using Lr, and fiddled with the highlights and shadows to get back some of the detail.
Saved the pictures on a memory stick and went to the minilab. When I get there I tell the employee that I want 20x30cm prints. He tells me that I have to wait 1 day for prints that big. He tried to explain something about the different rolls that they use but I`m not that patient.
So I asked him to print them 13x18cm. He did that while I was looking for something else. 5 minutes later he comes to me with the four pictures and he says something like: “Just so you know, I had to push them 3 stops to get something usable”. I just started laughing … yeah, the “boy you are so wrong!” type of laugh. Payed for them `cause they were cheap and left.
Got home and reproduced them using Lr so what I see on paper, was also what the monitor was showing me.
So here`s the end result. Unhappy customer: NO, `cause I had a good laugh in front of 5 customers. Going there again: hell NO. (Well … unless I want to give them a hard time
)
The one on the left is what I gave them, and the one on the right is what they printed.
